MAP097 Winter Storm Aerials

A lone truck sits parked at the end of a plowed drive unable to make it any further in the deep snow near Castle Rock. Aerial photographs along the I-25 corridor from Centennial to Greeneland of the effects of a slow moving winter blizzard that left as much as two feet of snow on the ground around the Denver area. Heavy snowfall and blowing winds have caused widespread closures and cancellations around Denver as a slow moving snow storm made its way through the area Thursday December 21, 2006. The snow started falling early Wednesday and finally started to taper off mid-day Thursday with as much as two feet of snow on the ground around the Denver area. I-25 was still closed from Lincoln Ave. to Colorado Springs at the time of the photographs but was later opened the entire way from Wyoming to New Mexico..(MARC PISCOTTY/ © 2006).
